General Information on the Use of Cookies

Our website uses so-called cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device and saved by your browser. They are used to make our services more user-friendly, effective, and secure. We use both so-called temporary cookies, which are automatically deleted when you close your browser (“session cookies”), and persistent (permanent) cookies.

You have the choice whether to allow cookies. You can make changes in your browser settings. You generally have the choice of whether you want to accept all cookies, be informed when cookies are set, or reject all cookies. If you choose the latter option, you may not be able to fully use our services.

When using cookies, a distinction must be made between strictly necessary cookies and those for additional purposes (measuring access numbers, advertising purposes).

Strictly necessary cookies when using the website
We use session cookies on our websites that are absolutely necessary for using our websites. These include cookies that enable us to recognize you while you visit the site within a single session. These session cookies contribute to the secure use of our services by, for example, enabling the secure processing of the shopping cart function and the payment process.

Use of cookies with your consent

You will also find an opt-out option in each explanation of the use of cookies. These include cookies used to record the usage behavior of our website as well as cookies used for advertising purposes.

A) Use of cookies to record usage behavior (tracking)
The use of tracking cookies enables us to recognize users when they re-access our website and thus assign usage events to an internally assigned identifier (pseudonym). This allows us to record repeated accesses to our website and analyze them coherently. Specifically, the following tracking cookies are used:

Tracking by Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies,” which are text files placed on your computer, to enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, due to the activation of IP anonymization on this website, your IP address will be shortened by Google beforehand within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On our behalf, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity, and to provide us with other services related to website activity and internet usage. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.
You can prevent cookies from being saved by setting your browser software accordingly; however, we would like to point out that if you do this, you may not be able to use all the functions of this website to their full extent. You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) and from processing this data by Google by downloading and installing the following browser plug-in.

They are also used to limit the frequency of display and measure the effectiveness of an ad. This records which websites and articles were clicked on. This allows us to collect information about usage habits in order to target interest-based advertising. This information is shared with third parties. In these cases, the cookies are regularly set directly by the advertising partner. Specifically, the following cookies are set:

Respect for “Do not track”
We naturally respect “Do not track” (DNT). Depending on your browser, DNT is either a switch in the program settings or a module (add-on or plug-in) that you install later. If this option is enabled, your browser signals to our web server that you do not want any tracking measures without your explicit consent. We then automatically deactivate all tracking functions on the server side.
This also means that our websites are delivered without any code for Google Analytics. This ensures the best possible data protection without you having to take any further measures with regard to our website.
The procedure for activating the “Do not track” option varies depending on the internet browser you use. Follow the links below:
